Variety: 100% Schiopettino
Terroir: The Colli Orientali del Friuli area is considered one of the most suitable for growing vines thanks to the specific composition of the soil and the favorable microclimate. The hillsides covered with terraced vineyards are protected from the cold winds blowing from the north by the Julian Prealps and are pleasantly blown by the warm breezes from the Adriatic Sea, just a few dozen kilometers away.
Soil: The soil is made up of alternating layers of flaky marls (clayey limestone, known as "ponca" in Friulian) and sandstone (calcified sands), rich in lime, potassium and phosphorus.
Vine formation: traditional Friulian single-inverted
Vinification: Schiopettino is one of the true indigenous grape varieties of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. The grapes, which are thoroughly thinned in June, are harvested strictly by hand (usually in the first week of October). The grapes are then removed from the stalk and crushed. The resulting must ferments for about 20 days.
During this period, frequent racking is carried out to facilitate the transfer of the color and noble components that define such a famous red wine from the skins to the fermenting must. After racking, the wine is aged for almost two years. Only after additional aging in the bottle will it be ready for consumption. Bottling - at least 2 years after harvest.
