Variety: 100% Nero d'Avola
The first label was produced by Feudo Macari in 2002, and the chosen home for the Nero d'Avola grape variety is in the vicinity of the beautiful "sandy" town of Noto (southeast Sicily).
Terroir: In the Feudo Macari cellar near Noto, their best selection of Nero d'Avola vines are carefully preserved, grown exclusively as "alberello" vines, reaching 40 years of age. This form of high-density vine cultivation is the oldest and most natural. Dating back to the Greek hills, ideal for hot climates, it requires manual and obsessive care for each plant.
A mixture of white limestone and black sandy soils, thanks to the proximity to the sea, ventilation and excellent exposure, are essential for the Nero d'Avola grape, which Feudo Macari vinifies to obtain an elegant, well-structured, complex, fine and charismatic red wine. The Alberello (cultivation method) and the aging in French oak make it a unique wine in its category.
