Whispering Angel is the most popular rosé in the world - sold in more than 100 countries.
This is the strongest brand to come out of France in the last 20 years. In America, 20% of the consumption of French rosé falls on Whispering Angel. Wine critics adore it, all the most important wine gurus agree that it is “the coolest thing you can try” or “the standard for Provençal rosé”.
Thanks to the bold project of Sasha Lishin, today the interest in rosés from Provence is tens of times greater. Whispering Angel has overcome the perception that rosés are consumed only in the summer - > it is a great companion even in the coldest months.
Variety: Grenache + Senso + Rolle (Vermentino)
Wining: The grapes come from vineyards around La Motte, in the heart of the Côte de Provence. The grapes are harvested every September from sunrise to noon and are placed in small (10-kilogram) crates, the size of which is chosen to avoid too many grapes at the top crushing the grapes at the bottom of the crates. Once the grapes arrive at the cellars, they are sorted by hand and then undergo a "mechanical eye" control - optical sorting. Each grape that enters the vinification is carefully cleaned from the bunch and meets all the physical characteristics specified by the winemaker, including shape, size, color and general condition. This is checked by an optical camera programmed to detect whether the grapes meet the established criteria.
The grapes then pass through a soft crushing mechanism that punctures them so that the juice inside can flow out, then enters a heat exchange system that reduces their temperature from 29 °C to 7-8 °C. The temperature reduction ensures that freshness and vitality are preserved, which is key to ensuring constant temperature control, preparing the grapes for a closed-cycle pressing (nitrogen pressing), which produces 3 types of juice, mostly free-flowing. Nitrogen pressing ensures that no oxidation occurs during the pressing process. Subsequently, depending on the type of juice that comes from the press, winemakers determine which will be used to produce barrel-fermented (aged) wine or stainless steel-fermented wine. The different types of juice differ in terms of contact with the skin, which applies exclusively to the first pressing, while the next two pressings have no contact with the skin and their intensity increases. The overall effect is a clear, clean juice without tannins, which gives the wines a pleasant character and flavor profile, while ensuring that the color is quite pale. Whispering Angel is fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a “Burgundian” batonage twice a day.
Although there are slight variations from harvest to harvest, the types and percentages of different grape varieties that will make up the final blend differ with each new harvest, but the flavor profile remains the same.
