Ouzo was one of the first products that Panagiotis Vadana made when he opened his distillery in 1904 in Patras.
The distillation is still carried out to this day exactly according to the recipes of the founder of the distillery, which he bequeathed and have been passed down from generation to generation.
In small, handmade copper cauldrons with a unique heat flow around the cauldron, which represent the only traditional production method and which have been made since then to this day by the same family of potters with whom Vadana Distillery collaborates.
This guarantees the excellent quality of the distillate, and its authentic character remains unchanged.
The heads and tails of the distillate, i.e. the initial and final part of the distillate, are discarded, leaving only the central part, the “heart”, which is the best and tastiest part of the distillate.
The unique recipe of Ouzo Vi 100% distilled includes a wide variety of fruits, herbs and seeds, such as anise, fennel, coriander, star anise, mastic, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc., but since the recipe is a secret, not all of its ingredients can be revealed :) A total of over 15 fruits, herbs and seeds are involved. This guarantees the excellent quality of the distillate and the authentic character of Ouzo 100% distilled remains unchanged.
The production of Ouzo 100% distilled is a long process and a real ritual.
After harvesting, the anise and dill are dried, sieved and placed in special bags. The bags are stored with particular care in a special room where the temperature and humidity are constant.
The soft and crystal clear water from the springs of Mount Erymantou is an important ingredient of this Ouzo Vadana.
Each distillation of 100% distilled ouzo is a slow process and lasts several hours. This achieves a high-quality result, a rich aromatic and taste balance, as well as a soft and refined texture.
This distillate, after dilution to the desired alcohol content and filtration, is aged and homogenized for a long period of time before bottling.
This is how this elegant and delicate ouzo is created, with a rich aroma, velvety taste and a wonderful finish.
It is drunk with water or with ice, and for some traditionalists who want to discover its primary aromas slowly and cleanly. Ice water gives 100% distilled Ouzo Vantana the right temperature, emphasizes its rich aroma, shows the characteristic deep emulsion of the pure distillate that many desire, and multiplies its flavor palette.
It goes well with mussels, squid, octopus, caviar, mussels, seafood pasta, mullet, sea bass, sea bream, horse mackerel and many other fish, as well as with various Greek cheeses such as feta, mizitra, ladotiri, graviera and of course with rich salads in various combinations and other delicious dishes from Greek cuisine.
Ouzo 100% distilled can also be drunk as a "long drink" with the discreet addition of fresh ingredients such as mint, basil, cucumber, orange, lemon.
It has been awarded:
Gold Award at the World Spirits Competition 2022
Gold Star at the Great Taste Awards 2020
Gold Award at the Olymp Awards 2019

The first detail worth knowing is that it is best to add the water first and then the ice. By following this sequence, you will enjoy ouzo in the best way,
as the temperature gradually decreases and all its aromas are released properly.
