Finca Sobreño is an iconic winery in the DO Toro appellation, Spain, known for working with old vines and creating powerful yet elegant wines that reflect the authentic character of the local Tinta de Toro variety.
Variety: Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo)
Terroir: The vineyards are located in the Toro region of Northwestern Spain, on poor sandy-clay soils with rocky areas. The continental climate with hot summers, cold winters and strong sunshine contributes to low yields, high concentration and a pronounced structure of the wine.
Vinification: The grapes are hand-picked from old vines. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, in order to preserve the fruit profile. The wine is aged in oak barrels, which adds complexity and rounds out the tannins without dominating the fruit.
Organoleptic characteristics
Colour: Deep ruby with violet hues.
Aroma: Intense and concentrated nose with notes of ripe blackberry, black cherry, spices, cocoa and a slight smoky nuance.
Taste: Full-bodied with well-defined structure, ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Rich fruity character, complemented by spicy and earthy tones, with a long and harmonious finish.
Food pairing: Ideal with beef steak, roast lamb, game, barbecued meats and hard, mature cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16°–18°C
