Maison Castel is part of one of the largest family wine groups in France, founded in 1949, with a long-standing expertise in creating affordable and authentic wines from classic French regions. This Bordeaux Merlot reflects the traditional style of the region with an emphasis on fruitiness and softness.

Variety: Merlot

Terroir: The grapes come from selected plots in the Bordeaux region with calcareous-clay soils and a temperate oceanic climate. These conditions allow the fruit to ripen smoothly and evenly, preserving the typical Merlot characteristics – softness, fruitiness and structure.

Vinification: Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to extract pure varietal aromas. Partial malolactic fermentation softens the texture, while a brief contact with oak adds additional depth and a slight spicy accent.

Organoleptic characteristics
Aroma: The nose is dominated by nuances of red plum, raspberry and a light herbal note, complemented by a hint of vanilla and black pepper.
Taste: Fruity body with soft tannins, freshness and a well-balanced finish. Suitable for daily consumption and easy to pair with food.

Food pairings: An ideal partner for lasagna, grilled sausages, veal ragout or mature cheeses.
