Bononia Estate is a modern winery located in the Danube Plain – village of Koshava, Vidin region. The owners have revived the tradition of viticulture here with care for the terroir, purity of the variety and minimal technological intervention, striving to present the unique character of Vrachanski Misket in a modern, elegant form.
Variety
100% Vrachanski Misket – a Bulgarian local variety, distinguished by an expressive floral and citrus aroma, a balance between freshness and volume, and a variety of nuances – from delicate white flowers to fruity exotic tones.
Terroir
The vineyards are located in the PGI Danube Plain, a region with a temperate climate and affected by the influence of the Danube River. The soils are well drained, with appropriate solar exposure, which allows the grapes to ripen, but also to cool at night – this preserves the freshness and aromatic intensity.
Vinification
The production follows a minimal intervention approach – fermentation in steel/stainless steel vessels, without oak barrels. This helps preserve the pure, varietal aroma characteristic of Misketa. There is no evidence of long aging, except for the natural storage of fine sediment every few months in some batches.
Organoleptic characteristics
Color: Radiant pale yellow with slight greenish hues.
Aroma: Extremely rich and explosive – floral notes of hyacinth, jasmine, sweet herbs, refreshing citruses such as mandarin.
Taste: Medium-bodied, with high and pleasant acidity, well balanced between freshness and volume; the aftertaste is long, fruity-citrus, with delicate floral nuances.
