La Scolca Gavi dei Gavi DOCG “Black Label” 2024 is an iconic Italian white wine created by the legendary La Scolca winery, located in the hills around the town of Gavi, in the Piedmont region. This wine is a benchmark for quality and sophistication among Cortese wines, presenting the best of the Gavi terroir – freshness, minerality and noble elegance. The “Black Label” is the winery’s trademark and a symbol of prestige, selection and longevity.
Varietal composition:
100% Cortese di Gavi
Terroir:
The vineyards are located on hilly terrain with a southern exposure, at an altitude of between 250 and 300 m above sea level. The soils are rich in limestone and clay, with a high content of minerals, which give the wine its characteristic minerality and tight structure.
The climate is continental with maritime influences, thanks to the proximity of the Ligurian Sea - warm days and cool nights support the slow ripening process and the development of fresh, subtle aromas.
Vinification:
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, from low-yield vineyards, to preserve maximum quality. After careful selection, they are gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the pure aromas and freshness of the variety.
After fermentation, the wine is aged briefly on the fine lees to acquire a creamy texture and depth, before bottling.
