Produced by Georgiev / Milkov – a boutique project founded in 2014 by oenologists Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov. The two winemakers, with experience in Austria, New Zealand, the USA and China, focus on Bulgarian varieties and minimal intervention in winemaking. The grapes for this wine come from 50-year-old vineyards near the village of Prolom, Karlovsko, located near a river.
Varietal composition: 100% Red Misket
Terroir: The vineyards are located in the Western Thracian Lowland, on sandy-clay soils with good drainage. The climate is moderately continental with the influence of the nearby river, which favors slow ripening and the accumulation of aromatic compounds.
Vinification: The grapes are hand-picked and undergo careful selection. Fermentation begins spontaneously, and after one third of it has passed, selected yeasts are added. The wine is aged for three months on fine lees without the addition of sulfites.
