Merlot 2024 from Dvor #1 Winery is a single-varietal red wine, produced with care in the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, near Perushtitsa. The winery focuses on terroir expression and minimal intervention, allowing the local climate and soils to bring out the characteristic profile of the variety.
Varietal composition: Merlot
Terroir: The vineyards are located on southern and southwestern slopes with well-drained alluvial-stony soils. The region enjoys a warm climate with distinct differences between day and night temperatures, which contributes to the slow ripening and accumulation of complexity in the grapes.
Vinification: Hand-picking and selection of the grapes, followed by fermentation in stainless steel vessels at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the wine is partially aged in oak barrels for additional softness and structure.
Organoleptic characteristics
Aroma: Ripe black fruits, cherry and plum, combined with subtle nuances of spices and dried herbs.
Taste: Full and velvety taste with well-structured tannins and a memorable, slightly spicy finish.
Food pairings: Roasted meats, moussaka, baked eggplants or mature semi-hard cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16°–18°C
Aging potential: Up to 5 years after harvest
