Zenato is one of the emblematic wineries in Valpolicella and Lake Garda, founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato. It combines tradition and modernity, with an emphasis on the terroir expression and depth of local varieties. Sergio Zenato Riserva is its most prestigious wine – produced only in exceptional vintages and in limited quantities.
Variety: Corvina, Rondinella, Ozeletta
Terroir: The vineyards are located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area, on calcareous-clay hills with excellent drainage. The altitude and temperate climate ensure slow ripening and accumulation of concentration in the grapes.
Vinification: After hand harvesting, the grapes are dried on wooden racks for about 4 months (appascimento). Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 4 years in French and Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 1 year in bottle.
Organoleptic characteristics
Aroma: Complex and captivating, with notes of dried cherries, prunes, dark chocolate, liqueur spices, leather and tobacco.
Taste: Rich and velvety, with a concentrated structure, ripe tannins and impressive length. The finish is warm, with nuances of vanilla, black pepper and bitter cocoa.
Food pairings: Ideal with beef steak, roast lamb, game and hard cheeses such as Parmigiano.
Serving temperature: 18°C
Aging potential: 20+ years
