Saint Clair Winery is one of the most renowned names in New Zealand’s wine industry. This family-owned estate, located in the heart of the Marlborough region, produces a wide range of quality wines, but it is the precision of their Sauvignon Blanc that has built the winery’s reputation.
The Sauvignon Blanc Reserve is the winery’s flagship model, which is a great example of value for money, using grapes from small plots selected from some of the best vineyards in Marlborough.
Terroir: The Marlborough region is located in the upper north-eastern corner of the South Island of New Zealand and is characterised by a maritime climate -> this also makes it a region with a cooler climate, which, combined with some of the longest hours of sunshine in the country, creates the ideal environment for growing aromatic varieties. The variety of French origin - Sauvignon Blanc - feels particularly good here. Hot days and cooler nights contribute to the complexity of the aromas in the grapes. This provides intensity and naturally high acidity; the perfect combination for producing an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification: After hand-picking and selection, the grapes are taken to the press and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.

Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough Estate Reserve Saint Clair
===
The Saint Clair Family Estate is owned by Neil and Judy Ibbotson, pioneers in Marlborough viticulture since 1978. The grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies; however, the desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard to the finished wine led to the creation of the Saint Clair Family Estate in 1994. The name Saint Clair comes from the vineyard estate originally settled by the Sinclair family. Pioneer James Sinclair built one of the first houses in Blenheim and is closely associated with the early development of the town. Over time, the name of the estate reverted to Saint Clair. The wide selection of vineyards in Marlborough, including the Wairau, Avater and Eure Valleys, as well as a vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels wine region in Hawke's Bay, allows St Clair to specialise its plantings by grape variety in the sub-regions that provide the most suitable terroir for each.
