Riesling Ried Kremser Marthal Vorspannhof MayrVorspannhof Mayr or simply Mayer Cellar dates back to the 15th century and was originally an inn where horses were changed before heading north. This is exactly what the word Vorspannhof means in German - a place where horses are changed. The Meyer family bought the winery and inn in 1898 and over the years began to direct the family business in two main directions - wine production and restaurant business. Today, the Meyer winery is managed by Silke Meyer and owns only 14 hectares of vineyards in the Kremstal area, divided into numerous small plots around the wine town of Krems. The winery is proud of many old vines, for which it takes special care. The main varieties for the cellar are Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, growing on loess, granite and slate soils. The Kremser Marthal vineyard is particularly famous, from which limited bottles are also available in our country. The cellar works on the principle of "Less is more" or as little intervention as possible. Whole bunches are pressed, unnecessary preparations and additives are not used, and the wines lie on the yeast at least until April of the following year, and the reserves - at least until the summer. In addition to its elegant Grüners and Rieslings, Silke Meyer is known for its Muscateler (fresh and tight Fine-grained White Muscat) and exotic Gemischter Satz (a mixed vineyard crop of Grüner, Riesling and red Veltliner).
