Introducing the jewel in the crown of the Royal Salute collection of whiskies from Chivas Regal, reimagined for a new era of reign.
A whisky crafted in homage to the highest ceremonial honour in British royal tradition – the 62 Gun Salute.
Chivas Royal Salute 21 Year Old was launched on 2 June 1953 as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her coronation.
The name of this exceptional Scotch whisky comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is played out as a sign of respect for the royal person.
The 62 Gun Salute is a military salute that is heard only for the most significant events associated with the royal family: birth, coronation and accession.
This is a combination of the most common and famous 21-gun salute + 20 more rounds when the shots are fired from the Tower of London (as it is a royal seat, in this case a castle) + 21 more salutes if the salutes are fired from the City of London, which are said to be a sign of loyalty from the citizens of London.
This super limited edition whisky is housed in a sapphire blue decanter, reminiscent of the famous Stuart Sapphire gemstone in one of the royal crowns of the British Empire.
Blended from over 50 of the most exceptional malt and grain whiskies in Scotland, the deep and complex aromatic profile reflects the time-honored tradition of the 62 Gun Salute.
